So today I decided to take the girls to McDonald's (which Chloe still
refers to as "Old Macdonald's") for a little time in the playland area.
The playland is designed for 3-12 year olds but since Paige is
physically the size of a 3 year old (she is wearing the clothes Chloe
wore last summer!) I thought we would give it a try. Chloe was a super
big sister helping Paige get up all the large steps it takes to go up to
the top--she actually lifted her up each step (not too bad considering
that she only weighs about 7 pounds more than Paige). They were having
a great time and Chloe would "coach" Paige along having her explore
different areas. Eventually Paige got tired and decided that she wasn't
going to go any further. Of course she was at the top of the playland
when this happened. Chloe and I tried to coax her down for
approximately 30 minutes with no luck. I finally told Chloe just to go
play on her own and let me worry about Paige. Chloe went off and I
continued to try to "talk Paige down." She eventually began crying and
was unwilling to try to get down by herself. Suddenly, from the other
end of the playstructure I heard Chloe begin crying. She had a bathroom
accident on the top step and urine was gently running down each
subsequent step like a graceful waterfall. The only disruption to the
graceful fountain-like trickle were the other kids who began to crawl
down through the pee! So I have Chloe crying, pee, strangers tracking
through the pee, and Paige crying stuck at the top of a 2 story play
structure. In the end I had to scamper up the playstructure, wind my
way through the tunnels prodding Paige along until we could find the
slide to come down, and then swoop up Chloe, inform McDonalds of the
"clean up issue," and get out of there. Needless to say, we won't be
going back!
