Chloe's words of wisdom

The other day Chloe suddenly proclaimed that she, "Knows what being
sixteen is all about. It is about getting your license and driving."
Deciding to take this one step further, I asked what three year olds are
all about (her age at the time). She exclaimed, "Giving hugs, giving
kisses, and making eggs." Apparently she is pretty proud of her
recently acquired skill of cooking eggs. :)

Chloe had the opportunity to bring treats to preschool for her
birthday. Her teachers had asked the kids not to bring something that
is "loaded with sugar." When I asked her what she wanted to bring, she
said she wanted to bring cupcakes. I told her that she needed to choose
something that had less sugar. She suggested "muffins." I quickly
agreed praising her on what a good choice she had made. After a brief
pause, she finished her thought for snack, "I want chocolate muffins
with frosting."--uh, yeah, that is called cupcakes.

Chloe was inspired by the book The Paper Bag Princess to construct her
own paper bag dress. She disappeared one day with a Trader Joe's paper
bag (grocery sack with little paper handles) and came back wearing
nothing but her underwear and the sack. She had cut out the bottom of
the sack and put the two handles over her shoulders like dress
straps--what a great problem solver.

Chloe and God

Tonight as we were having our nightly playtime before Chloe goes to bed,
we were playing airplane passengers. Chloe was flying to Australia to
"finish her work." She told me that she works for Australia making
notes but would really like to work for the United States of America.
She then said that God created the United States of America. I asked
her to expand on this theory and she said, "Well God created all the
lands." She then proceeded to open up her "luggage" and take out the
"directions God used to create the earth. She told me, "He smashed up
some blueberries and added a little white to make light blue and that
was the sky. He took some mushy cauliflower and made clouds." I asked
how he made people and she confidently replied, "From skeletons and then
he wrapped all kinds of skin around it." "He also gave them
hair...Daddy used to have hair, but boys loose their hair when they get
older." "When he was all done making the earth he died and went up to
heaven..but he is watching over us." We don't regularly attend church
(maybe it is time we should) but Chloe has just formulated this idea
about God from bits and pieces of conversations we have had on the subject.
