funny stuff lately

We have had some funny events in the past few days surrounding Paige's
first birthday. On our shopping run to Costco to stock up for the
party, Chloe brought in her harmonica and was happily playing as we were
shopping. I had at least 6 different people stop to ask me if she took
lessons or how long she had been taking lessons. This is quite humorous
because a harmonica sounds good no matter who is playing it. I guess
Chloe just exuded the confidence to convince people that she was a child
harmonica prodigy or something. We were in the frozen aisle and Chloe
sat down on the ledge of the freezer case and began to sing the blues!
She would play a few bars on her harmonica and then sing a phrase or two
in a very bluesy style and so on. I don't know where she heard this
because we don't play blues music often.

When Paige was opening gifts Chloe was all too helpful. We told her she
needed to let Paige open her own gifts. Chloe then disappeared and came
back a few minutes later. She had taken one of Paige's old toys and
wrapped it in some scarves like a present. She then took a piece of
paper and put stickers on it and signed her name and put it in a
discarded envelope from another gift. She gave it to Paige as her gift
and card for her birthday. It was so sweet!

Paige did great on her first birthday. She decided not to nap that day
but was still in relatively good spirits the whole day. She really tore
into her first birthday cake. She got it all over her face, arms,
hands, and hair. She was quite a site when she was all done.
